Hina Matsuri Doll Exhibit
Hinamatsuri (Doll's Festival) is held on March 3rd. This is a day to pray for young girl's growth and happiness. It is also called Momo no sekku (Peach Festival). Every year on this date families set up a special displays of ornamental dolls called "hina". These displays represent the parents wish for their daughters prosperous and successful life. The hina doll sets include a male and female "emperor and empress" attended by wise warriors, musicians, ladies serving sake, and other figures of palace life,
Come and Join us at the St.Louis county Library Grants View branch as we celebrate Hina Matsuri with a full scale doll display. This collection show cases over a dozen dolls representing members of the imperial court. All are richly costumed and detailed in a variety of mediums.

Passport to Japan 2019
Part of the Family Sunday program. the Japan America Society of St.Louis will present visitors to the museum with a hands-on origami workshop, bon-o-dori dances (including several with audience participation), taiko drum performances, and a shishi-mi lion dance.

Celebrating the history, culture, and people of Japan, the Japanese Festival at the Missouri Botanical Garden is one of the largest and oldest festivals of its kind in the United States.
Since 1977, the Missouri Botanical Garden has produced the annual Japanese Festival in conjunction with the Japanese Activities Committee, a coalition of several Japanese-American organizations that provide art, dance, food and entertainment for thousands of visitors each year.
When: Agu 31 - Sept.1, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Sept. 2 (Labor Day), 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Doors open at 9 a.m.
